The carpenter is a key role in the front-line staff at MD Steele Construction sites. In general, Carpenters construct formwork, falsework, containment, and framing systems on transportation, industrial, and commercial projects. Due to the varied nature of MD Steele’s work, Carpenters also contribute occasionally on concrete pours, rigging/erection of structural members, and reinforcing.

  • Has a strong attention to detail.
  • Properly uses and maintains tools/materials required to complete tasks.
  • Has knowledge of construction industry and processes. Specific attributes include knowledge of concrete/formwork, temporary works, steel/concrete erection.
  • Capable of creative problem-solving to develop complex work tasks and to complete work safely, efficiently, and productively.
  • Dedicated to completing construction projects safely, to high quality, on schedule through to completion.
  • Recognizes and understands the importance of an efficient/productive crew and completing tasks on-time.
  • Able and willing to work on construction projects out of town when required.

Primary Role & Responsibilities

  • Constructs formwork, falsework, containment, and framing systems on construction sites.
  • Assists on concrete pours, rigging/erection, reinforcing, and other site duties as needed.
  • Follows M. D. Steele Safety Policy and encourages all site personnel to work in a safe and respectful work environment.
  • Maintains a well-organized and tidy work site.
  • Utilizes proper tool use/maintenance/inspections and informs Foreman of repairs to equipment/tools.
  • Foresees materials/tools/equipment needed for their daily tasks.
  • Reports inventory of materials, hardware, and tools to Foreman as needed.
  • Follows Safe Work Practices and maintains equipment in accordance with operational requirements.
